Hess Injury Law Acquires Hill Law Office, Continuing Three Decades of Personal Injury Representation in Pendleton

Eastern Oregon attorney Steven L. Hill, founder of Hill Law Office, transitions his Pendleton personal injury practice to Hess Injury Law after more than 30 years of service to the region.

PENDLETON, Ore. — Hess Injury Law has acquired Hill Law Office, the Pendleton-based personal injury practice founded by attorney Steven L. Hill in 1999, attorneys from the firms announced. The transition, effective May 1, 2026, ensures continuity of dedicated personal injury representation for clients across Eastern Oregon.

The acquisition follows a planned succession by Steve Hill, who has practiced personal injury law in Pendleton for more than three decades. Rather than close the firm entirely, or transfer matters to attorneys outside the region, Hill chose to entrust the practice to Hess Injury Law — a regional firm led by attorney Peter Hess, whose family has known and worked alongside Hill across the Eastern Oregon legal community for more than 25 years.

Hess Injury Law will continue operations from the existing Pendleton office at 310 SE Second Street, Suite 200, becoming the fourth office regional office alongside the locations in Hermiston, Ore., Walla Walla, Wash., and Pullman, Wash. The practice will retain its exclusive focus on personal injury matters, including motor vehicle accidents, truck and motorcycle collisions, and wrongful death claims.

“After more than 30 years, the decision to step back was not the difficult one — the decision about what would happen next was. I have known Peter Hess and his family for most of my career. Hess Injury Law is a personal injury firm in the truest sense of the phrase, and it is based right here in our backyard. I am confident that the people of Eastern Oregon’s counties, where I’ve practiced law, are in good hands, and the region will continue to have the kind of local, focused representation it deserves.” — Steven L. Hill, Founder, Hill Law Office

Steve Hill is recognized as one of Oregon’s leading personal injury attorneys, with selection to Oregon Super Lawyers, an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and prior service on the board of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association. He was named Pendleton Chamber of Commerce Employer of the Year in 2013 and received the President’s Volunteer Service Award in 2014. He is a past president of the Pendleton Rotary Club.

“Steve built something that does not exist in most communities of this size — a personal injury practice with the depth of experience and the credentials of a major metropolitan firm, run by an attorney who has lived and worked alongside his clients for thirty years. Continuing that work in Pendleton, to the standard Steve has set, is a responsibility we take seriously. Our firm has practiced in this region for a long time, and we are committed to making sure Eastern Oregon never has to look outside its own borders for serious personal injury representation.” — Peter Hess, Managing Attorney, Hess Injury Law

Steve Hill will remain available to his current clients during a transition period. Active matters will continue to be handled at the Pendleton office, and former Hill Law Office clients with questions are encouraged to contact the firm directly.
